“Walter Schmidt” by Antiguo Autómata Mexicano -- Cover Art

With flowing minimalist loops, clicks, and cuts, “Walter Schmidt” uses elements that would likely sound tired if used by lesser producers. However, AAM brings real heart to this track. “Co. Op EP” released in 2005 on Filtro.

After reading your thoughts on it - I can relate. But, this piece did hold my interest longer then I’d expected at the onset. It’s pretty ominous - the main chord progression, falling downward, is a bit repetitive, but eventually I stopped concentrating on it. The last quarter of the piece is quite compelling. Something powerful is trying to emerge from beneath the genre tradition of broken, compressed fragments of audio. A lost melody trying to unlatch the sample-n-hold restraints.
