“The Coffee Brings You Back” by Kultobjekt

A long and hypnotic track with microhouse(ish) elements that drift in an out, “The Coffee Brings You Back” by Kultobjekt is all about the details for me - in particular the heavily reverbed metallic sound that appears every two bars as part of the drums… I listen to this track on repeat quite often while I’m coding. “Bitte 1Bit!” released on 1Bit Wonder.

  1. Pretty stripped down. Not sure if I’m a big fan. The sound pallete and fx seems a bit generic compared to other minimal techno work I hear. (Deepchord, Chain Reaction, Basic Channel, Monolake, Yagya, etc.) I may be going out on a limb here - but it almost has an early Moby vibe to it with that tabla hit.

After 3min. a new element is introduced that seems to be the same bit as before, but up an octave. Hrm. I dig the subtle work on the counterpoint melody introduced around 3:45 - it lives for the rest of the song and works very well.

I would suggest those that dig this might want to look into a stellar, frigid compilation from awhile back called ‘42 More Things To Do in Zero Gravity’ on Uni:form Recordings. Has lots of stuff like this, better at times. It’s almost like every track is interrelated on some level.

And yes - that metallic, radar “ping” does sound kinda familiar.
